Ragging has ruined countless innocent lives and careers. The focus of this body is to
prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student
or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing,
treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or
undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause
annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any
fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not
in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of
shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such
fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or
showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other
student.
What is Ragging?
Ragging is a practice in colleges, hostels and other educational institutes where the
senior or an influential person tends to demoralize and defame the juniors through the
means of verbal or physical abuse and harassment.
Any conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of
harassing, teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in
rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship
or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior
student is Ragging.
Ragging is a social menace which ruins not just of students' self-respect but also their
confidence.
What is considered as Ragging?
Ragging constitutes one or more of the following acts:
Teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
Indulging in undisciplined activities towards any fresher or any other student.
Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do.
Exploiting the services of any student for completing the academic tasks.
Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure.
Any act of physical abuse.
Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults
How to prevent Ragging?
Do not feel ashamed or blame yourself.
Keep a detailed record (dates, times, places, names of harasser(s) and witnesses) of all
incidents related to ragging.
Do not ignore the act of the ragging assuming that it will stop by its own. Raise your
voice.
Interact with the seniors more.
Whom to Approach?
Any member of the committee. You can meet them in person, write a mail or call them.
Any employee of the Institute - Faculty or Staff. They will guide you in the right
direction.
Any student, irrespective of age and/or gender, may file a complaint against an incident
of ragging.

What we will do
The Anti-Ragging Committee shall conduct the enquiry observing a fair and transparent procedure
and the principles of natural justice and after giving adequate opportunity to the student or
students accused of ragging and other witnesses to place before it the facts, documents and
views concerning the incidents of ragging, and considerations such other relevant information as
may be required.
